Art
In our opinion it is very fruitful to take art out of the usual “sanctuaries”, be they art galleries or museums, in order to prepare the ground for a meeting between the work of art and the people who got desire and sensitivity to relate with art. The garden of the Cernia and the interiors of the hotel turn out to be the place for such a meeting.
Due to the cooperation of the Cernia with the Gulliver art gallery of Marciana Marina, from 2005 to 2012 many masters of ceramic-art have participated in “Art in the Garden” festival here by us:
- Ingrid Mair Zischg
- Sante Segato
- Claudio Carrieri
- Mariano Fuga
- Riccardo Biavati
- Tonino Negri
- Veronika Thurin
- Enrico Stropparo
On request at the hotel you can find informative material about the previous “Art in the Garden” festival editions.
The Cernia carries on its journey through the field of art expression even after the conclusione of the stimulating travel done with Gulliver art-gallery.
- In 2013 Luca Polesi, a “visionary” artist from Elba who is able to give new life to inanimate waste material, had his art exhibition at our garden
- In 2014, Alfredo Gioventù led us to an extraordinary journey through the relationship between man and the environment, realized with great skill and great sensitivity to the wonderful granite area of Sant’Andrea.
- In the year 2015, Giovanni Maffucci has created an interesting ceramics route in the interior of the Hotel Cernia and in the “Garden of Osmunda” which concentrates on the relationship between nature and man, and how the perception of this changes when one changes their perspective.
- In 2016 the Cernia Isola Botanica was impressed by the Elbanian photographer Alessandro Beneforti, who was inspired by his work “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino. This he told us with his curious eyes and the sensitive photographic lens, which discovered thousands of facets of Elba.
